Description 

The Grants Manager oversees APWLD’s sub-grants management and works closely with the Regional Coordinator in fundraising and donor management.

 

Selection Criteria 

  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific. 
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge on political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights.
  • Experience in working with a movement-based organisation such as feminist movements, indigenous peoples, farmers, migrants, workers, fisherfolk, Dalits, LBTQI or other movements is an asset.
  • Proven experience of advocacy and political networking with exposure to global and regional multilateral mechanisms and processes. 
  • Minimum eight  (8) years experience in development work, women’s human rights and/or social movements at the national, regional or international level with at least three (3) years of managerial experience overseeing fundraising, grants management including large scale fundraising and donor relationship.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with  multiple programmes to provide financial management and administrative oversight of various sub-granting programmes to ensure that budget planning, disbursements and monitoring align with donor requirements and institutional principles and standards.
  • Strong coordination and management skills both within and across teams including programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics,  Social or political Science.
  • Knowledge of the financial accounting software as MYOB, ABSS, Quickbook and/or other financial tools, and generating financial reports is an asset. 
  • Excellent command of English language, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to write and review  project proposals and donor reports.
  • Proficient ICT, writing and editing skills and ability to adapt and work with new software and technology. Familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members, partners, donors, and funders.
  • Must be able to travel overseas as required.
  • Must be able and willing to relocate and work from APWLD’S Regional Office in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Support the Regional Coordinator in writing grant proposals, attending donor meetings and meeting donor requirements;
  2. Support the Regional Coordinator in developing APWLD’s resource mobilisation activities and plans, including identifying donor environment and opportunities; 
  3. Create and manage a database of grants and funders for APWLD’s funding sustainability;  
  4. Lead the technical oversight of all APWLD donor contracts, ensuring that the organisation meets the implementation and reporting obligations throughout the grant life cycle;
  5. Coordinate the development of high-quality donor reports, working across teams to ensure the programmatic narratives and financial data are consistent with donor requirements and reflect APWLD’s strategic impact;
  6. Oversee the risk management framework for both incoming grants and outgoing sub-grants, proactively identifying financial or political risks that could impact APWLD’s work and funding sustainability;
  7. Coordinate APWLD’s sub-grant making processes ensuring policies and due diligence requirements are maintained;
  8. Lead the sub-grant programmes and provide holistic guidance to the secretariat members on the overall sub-grant management;
  9. Maintain and improve APWLD’s sub-grant making policies and procedures and provide support to subgrants partners.
  10. Coordinate with Deputy Regional Coordinator and Regional Coordinator for APWLD’s sub-grant policy monitoring and strategising;
  11. Supervise and mentor interns, volunteers and other staff where agreed;
  12. May represent APWLD in international and regional fora as approved by the Regional Coordinator;
  13. Performs other duties as required by the Regional Coordinator.

 

Remuneration & Compensation

Salary for this role is THB 86,250 (USD 2,500 at a fixed rate of THB 34.5) per month.  Other benefits include health allowance and insurance; contributions to the employee provident fund, Thai Social Security Fund and 13th month salary. This is a full-time position with a two-year (renewable) contract; and a probationary period of four months applies. The staff member will be required to work from the APWLD office in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Relocation support (including monthly housing allowance and airfare where applicable) will be provided to applicants who relocate to Chiang Mai from outside of Thailand.
