Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting WOMEN in all their diversities, including those belonging to minority and marginalised groups from Asia and the Pacific countries with relevant experience and skills to apply as Feminist Knowledge, Learning and Publication Officer.

The successful applicants will work with our committed Secretariat and membership to advance women’s human rights, women’s organising power, strengthening cross-movements solidarity and actions and advocate for Development Justice.

Description 

Feminist Knowledge, Learning and Publication work plays a crucial role in APWLD. The programme aims to ensure that feminist stories, data and analysis influence the discourse and narratives of policy makers, diverse movements, academia and the public to advance women’s human rights and Development Justice.The programme leads in producing feminist knowledge and tools that are driven by the realities of Asia Pacific women and their communities; in producing institutional publications; and supports eleven  programmes with their publication needs. 

 

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific. 
  • In depth understanding and knowledge on political, economic, and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights.
  • Minimum Five (5) years  experience in research and publications role for a non government organisation or equivalent. 
  • Experience in working with a movement-based organisation such as feminist movements, indigenous peoples, farmers, migrants, workers, fisherfolk, Dalits, LBTQI, or other movements is an asset.
  • A degree in communications, research, social and political science, human rights, development or women’s studies.
  • Experience in research support via desk, qualitative and quantitative research skills, familiar with participatory action research and other feminist research approaches, and capacity to analyse and critique economic, social and development policies. Experience in policy analysis is an asset.
  • Strong coordination/teamwork skills both within and across teams. 
  • Research and support skills including publications planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
  • Excellent command of English language, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as programme reports and project proposals.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient computer skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel overseas as required.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Overall planning and management of the programme’s workplan and budget, according to APWLD’s strategic plan, financial policies and guidelines. 
  2. Oversee and coordinate the planning and implementation of the knowledge, tools and resource needs of APWLD members and partners.
  3. Work with APWLD programmes to support their respective research and knowledge production plans and its implementation.
  4. Implement, monitor and evaluate research and publication plans and its impact (includes training, documentation, research, publications);
  5. Oversee the distribution strategy of APWLD’s research and publications, including popularising and communications plan;
  6. Coordinate the documentation for APWLD’s institutional knowledge and resource materials including annual reports and members’ feminist journey stories.
  7. Writing reports for APWLD members and donors.
  8. Assists the Finance Team with the preparation of financial reports related to research, knowledge, resource and tool development.  
  9. Assists in the preparation of project proposals and budgetary requirements for donor agencies.
  10.  Supervises programme interns, volunteers or programme staff where agreed.
  11. May represent APWLD in regional / international fora as approved by the Regional Coordinator.
  12. Performs other duties as required by the Regional Coordinator or Deputy Regional Coordinator.

 

Remuneration & Compensation

Salary range commences at USD 1,800 per month. Other benefits include monthly work from home allowance (130USD), health allowance and insurance; contributions to the employee provident fund; and 13th month salary. This is a full-time position with a two-year (renewable) contract; and a probationary period of four months applies. Staff will be based and work from her home country.
