Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting WOMEN in all their diversities, including those belonging to minority and marginalised groups from Asia and the Pacific countries with relevant experience and skills to apply as Executive Officer (EO).

The successful applicants will work closely with the Regional and Deputy Coordinator along with our committed Secretariat and membership to advance women’s human rights, women’s organising power, strengthening cross-movements solidarity and actions, and advocate for Development Justice.

Role Description & Selection Criteria 

The Executive Officer provides logistical, office and administrative support to the Regional and Deputy Regional Coordinator and Governance bodies of APWLD and functions as effective liaison between the Regional and Deputy Regional Coordinator, Governance bodies, partners and the Secretariat. APWLD is a membership-driven organisation, and the Executive Officer will also play an integral role to provide support in convening spaces for strategic membership discussion and institutional sustainability. She is responsible for management, updates and developing and maintaining key institutional files, documentation and database for APWLD’s operation.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific.
  • Five years experience in supporting leadership and management within human rights and development organisations.
  • Experience in working with a movement-based organisation such as feminist movements, indigenous peoples, farmers, migrants, workers, fisherfolk, Dalits, LBTQI, or other movements; and in-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights  is an asset.
  • Experience in desk research, legal research, qualitative and quantitative research skills, and analysis grounded in feminism and human rights.
  • A degree in management, administration, organisational development, or women’s studies.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, able to multitask and prioritise tasks, keen attention to detail  and excellent in time management.
  • Demonstrated ability for effective liaison; manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Proficient computer skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox and video conferencing tools (ZOOM and Google Meet).
  • Excellent communications skills and command of English language, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to write formal letters, statements or project proposals.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
  • Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Executive Officer is expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Assist and work closely with Regional & Deputy Regional  Coordinator to provide effective liaison; and coordinate the workflow between the Regional & Deputy Regional Coordinator and the Secretariat.
  • Provide the Regional & Deputy Regional Coordinator with logistical, administrative support and travel arrangements.
  • Work closely with Regional & Deputy Regional Coordinator to organise spaces for APWLD members’ strategic discussion and network sustainability.
  • Work closely with Regional & Deputy Regional Coordinator and governance bodies to advance APWLD members’ engagement, solidarity and leadership.
  • Oversee and manage  the institutional work calendar of APWLD.
  • Oversee and manage the logistical, administrative and budget preparations for all governance and membership (annual and quarterly) meetings.
  • Coordinate the monthly meetings of the Secretariat.
  • Acts as the point person for the Secretariat, members, allies and those external to APWLD.
  • Assist in drafting internal and external communication –emails, presentations and reports.
  • Provide or facilitate documentation support during Secretariat and governance meetings.
  • Screen and distribute correspondence.
  • Systematise, update and maintain the membership database.

Remuneration & Compensation

Salary range commences at USD 1,500 per month. Other benefits include monthly work from home allowance (USD 130), health allowance and insurance; contributions to social security and to the employee provident fund; and 13th month salary. This is a full-time position with a two-year (renewable) contract; and a probationary period of four months applies. Staff will be based and work from her home country.
