APWLD Women Interrogating Trade & Corporate Hegemony (WITCH) programme presents to you “Manifestation of a class struggle: Women farmers in the dairy and livestock sector of Punjab, Pakistan”, a documentary produced by our partner Pakistan Kissan Mazdoor Tehreek – PKMT as a result of the Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR).

PKMT is a mass-based alliance of small and landless farmers including women farmers. Through this FPAR, PKMT has been closely monitoring the extensive corporatisation and trade liberalization in the milk sector in Pakistan, particularly in the Punjab province and its impact on women as livestock caregivers, especially for milk collection.

The video provides an in-depth understanding of the struggles that small and landless farmers are undergoing locally while contextualizing the struggles to pinpoint global actors and oppressive forces such as WTO that are the true culprits behind farmers’ plight. The documentary is primarily in Urdu with some interviews in Sindhi/Punjabi and English subtitles.
