A briefer published by APWLD to reaffirm grassroots women’s political analysis on the trend of global climate financing that was addressed during the series of South to South Feminist Learning on Climate Justice (SSFL) in 2022.

Feminists and grassroots women’s movements in Asia and the Pacific continue to seek accountability of the Global North to provide adequate financing to overcome climate crises as it has been their broken promise since the deal was sealed in Copenhagen nearly 14 years ago. Moreover, climate finance that was intended to assist developing countries is flowing in the form of loans rather than grants and mainly lands in the hands of international financial institutions to run mega projects of rich countries and big multinational corporations. Feminists and grassroots women have repeatedly stressed that climate finance must contribute to tackle the root causes of climate injustices, support meaningful climate actions and ambitions led by women along with their communities as opposed to the false solutions and narratives led by the capitalists putting profit over peoples and our mother earth.
