The APWLD Central Asia FPAR (CA FPAR) programme is proud to present “Central Asia FPAR,” a documentary that delves into the FPAR journeys of seven grassroots women’s rights organisations across Central Asia. These organisations include:

  • Centre for Development and Social Assistance to the Population’ Moy Dom,’ Kazakhstan
  • Centre for Development and Support of Initiatives’ Nihol,’ Uzbekistan
  • League of Women Lawyers (LIGA), Tajikistan
  • Nurzholber, Kyrgyzstan
  • Centre for Social and Legal Assistance to Women and Children’ Mehrjon,’ Uzbekistan
  • Positive Teens, Kyrgyzstan
  • Women’s Support Centre (WSC), Kyrgyzstan

This documentary provides insight into the essence of FPAR, both in general and within the context of Central Asia. It delves into what FPAR signifies and represents for Central Asian women and their communities. Furthermore, it elucidates how FPAR has been instrumental in helping women identify and comprehend structural issues, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to organise and advocate for the change they aspire to achieve.

The film captures the personal reflections of these women on their inaugural FPAR journeys.It highlights how FPAR partners employed feminist participatory methodologies within their communities. Furthermore, the digital story highlights how FPAR has strengthened women in the CA to assert their rights and access to decent work and living wages, water, other natural resources, women’s voice, and body autonomy. 

The documentary primarily uses Russian for narration, complemented by interviews conducted in Kyrgyz, Uzbek, and Tajik languages, all accompanied by English subtitles for broader accessibility.
