Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting WOMEN in all their diversities, including those belonging to minority and marginalised groups from Asia and the Pacific countries with relevant experience and skills to apply as Event Coordination Associate for the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2024. 

The successful applicant will be part of organising the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) which will be held in 2024; and will work with our committed Secretariat and membership to advance women’s human rights, women’s organising power, strengthening cross-movements solidarity and advocate for Development Justice. 

Due to the nature of the work, this consultancy is open for candidates based in Thailand with proficiency in English and Thai Language.

Programme Description & Selection Criteria 

Events Coordination Associate will support in organising the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF). The candidate will be based and work from Thailand with frequent travel to Chiang Mai.  This is a one-year (12 months) consultancy contract. Starting as soon as November 2023.

What is the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum? 

APFF, convened every three year, is a space for feminist and women’s movements to celebrate collective achievements, reflect on challenges and political climates, deepen feminist knowledge and analysis, strengthen feminist sisterhood, solidarity and collaboration to advance women’s rights and Development Justice.  It is a participatory event bringing together activists, women human rights defenders, academics, lawyers and global allies.  Feminists from Asia and the Pacific are invited to join APWLD members and allies in Chiang Mai, to strengthen our movements, our solidarity and our resolve to dismantle economic, social and political systems that produce obscene levels of inequality, drive climate and debt crises as well as violations of women’s human rights. The Forum will facilitate the sharing of tools and resources, provide space for solidarity actions and collectively strategise to build feminist movements’ power and solidarity. 

 

Selection Criteria

  • A degree in social and political science, law, human rights, development, women’s studies, communications or related studies.  
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years experience in development work, women’s human rights, and/or social movements at the national, regional or international level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific. 
  • In depth understanding and knowledge on political, economic, and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights and movement organising.
  • Demonstrated experience in event coordination as part of social movement or movement building for feminist, human rights or civil society organisations at national, regional or international level. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with diverse groups of people for event preparation.
  • Event management skills with detailed attention to managing logistical arrangements.
  • Excellent administrative skills and ability to prioritise tasks, have strong problem-solving and decision making attitude, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Proficient ICT skills including the ability to manage social media, Google Suite tools, products and software.
  • Must be based in Thailand and be able to frequently travel to Chiang Mai.  
  • Strong coordination/teamwork skills both within and across teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written. 
  • Proficiency in Thai language is required 
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with and provide support to the Events Coordinator in overall development and implementation of the APFF strategies, work plan and internal communication and coordination plan.
  2. Support and assist in  the overall organising of the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum in 2024.
  3. Provide support to APFF Organising Committee members and partners which includes maintaining regular and secure communication among network members or partners (including email, video calls, telephone calls, etc.).
  4. Provide support to coordinate the participation of members and partners attending APFF Activities (including logistical, visa, airline booking, finance support during meetings); as well as supporting the coordination with members and partners. 
  5. Provide administrative and planning support to the Events Coordinator. 
  6. Provide support in facilitating the publication of key knowledge tools and resources material for the Event. 
  7. Provide support on the logistical arrangements for the event – including venue, meeting package, travel, language interpretation, disability  and other accessibility needs, etc. 
  8. Support in producing the event reports that includes proceedings, analyses, recommendations and follow- up actions.
  9. Collaboratively work with APWLD Secretariat staff

Consultancy Fee

Consultancy fee for this position is USD 1,400 (THB 48,300) per month. This is a one year (12 months) consultancy contract. Consultant should be based and work from Thailand.
