APWLD is Hiring for Multiple Positions

Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting women from Asia Pacific countries (specifically from the sub-regions of the Pacific, East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia) with relevant experience and skills to apply for the following three exciting positions:

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer [re-opened call]
  2. Human Resource and Executive Officer
  3. Information and Communications Associate

The successful applicants will work with our committed Secretariat to support a powerful network of women’s rights organisations, movements and activists across the region; and significantly contribute to APWLD’s institutional strength and sustainability.

APWLD is a regional network of women’s organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to women’s human rights and feminist movements.  APWLD’s members are drawn from 27 countries and the Secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand with a satellite office based in Penang, Malaysia.  If you are deeply committed to supporting feminist, progressive movements and challenging structural inequalities, please consider applying to join our powerful team!

Selection Criteria for Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
  2. A degree in social and political sciences; human rights, development, women’s studies or other relevant disciplines;
  3. Minimum of five years’ experience in development work and women’s rights at the national, regional level or international level;
  4. Experience and knowledge of feminist monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) approaches and methods.  Experience in feminist MEL system design and implementation is an asset;
  5. Proven knowledge on different monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tracking tools is an asset;
  6. In-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region;
  7. High level project management skills including programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
  8. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
  9. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as program reports and project proposals.    Proficiency in another language other than English is an asset;
  10. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to network in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
  11. Proficient ICT skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox is preferred;
  12. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Remuneration

Salary range commences at THB 51,750 (equivalent of USD 1,500) per month. Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; education allowance for children, 13th month salary, housing allowance and relocation allowances for staff required to relocate to Chiang Mai, Thailand or Penang, Malaysia.

A probationary period of four months applies.

This is a full-time position with two-years contracts (renewable).

Selection Criteria for Human Resource and Executive Officer

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
  2. A degree in human resource management; business administration; social and political sciences; women’s studies or other relevant disciplines;
  3. Minimum of five years’ experience in development work and women’s rights at the national, regional level or international level;
  4. Experience and knowledge of various human resource functions and tools, e.g. organisational diagnosis/development, staff recruitment, professional development and performance management, staff welfare and benefits, staff relations management including grievance and policy compliance monitoring;
  5. Ability to apply and systematise human resource tools and functions in a not-for-profit/movement based organisational setting with feminist principles and ethics;
  6. High level organisational, time management and leadership skills;
  7. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write organisational policies and recommendations.    Proficiency in another language other than English is an asset;
  8. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including negotiations and conflict resolutions skills;
  9. In-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region is an asset;
  10. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
  11. Proficient ICT skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox is preferred;
  12. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Selection Criteria for Information and Communications Associate

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion and understanding of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
  2.  A degree in communication studies, journalism or media studies;
  3. Minimum of two to three years of work experience using innovative and powerful communication strategies to advance women’s human rights;
  4. Up-to-date knowledge of digital communication tools and technologies including social media;
  5. Proven writing, video and/or podcast production skills (experience in using WordPress and creating digital media content is desirable);
  6. Skills and knowledge of graphic design and video, audio and photo editing softwares;
  7. Ability to produce regular newsletters using Mailchimp;
  8. Basic knowledge of analysing social media and communications impact;
  9. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
  10. Must be able to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a busy communications team;
  11. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written, knowledge of a regional language will be desirable;
  12. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
  13. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Desirable

  1. Experience in social sector or journalism would be an advantage.
  2. Experience of working on social media or online movements.
  3. Experience in implementing communications strategies at organisational level.

Salary range commences at THB 34,500 (equivalent of USD 1,000) per month. Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; 13th month salary; housing allowance and relocation allowances for staff required to relocate to Chiang Mai or Penang.
