APWLD and other civil society organisations at the ASEAN People’s Forum (22-24 April 2015 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) staged an action to alert the governments of the region about entering into a dangerous compact that threatens to be more than just a trade agreement. The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP or TPPA) is a trade and investment treaty being negotiated by the US with 11 countries: Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Chile, Peru, as well as four countries from the ASEAN: Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Brunei.
