Vol. 24 No. 2 – December 2011:

This end-of-year issue covers a variety of topics at a time when much is happening globally within social movements- the Occupy Movements, Arab Spring- where activists, often women, are demanding democratic space. As the same time, APWLD members have been involved in global movements and venues all tackling questions of “development” and what it means for women and women’s rights across the spectrum. This includes climate change and its effect on rural, indigenous and Dalit women; recent flooding and government responsibility; amplifying the voices of women in politics; an ASEAN Human Rights Declaration; the new ILO Convention and its impact on domestic workers; and the inaugural Asia Pacific Feminist Forum.
