Aijamal Bakashova was one of the few civil society representatives selected to speak at the UN High Level Thematic Debate on Advancing Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda. She spoke on the need for a living wage, accountability for land-grabbing, and the need for development justice. We’re really proud of you Aijamal!

APWLD met with the Cambodian Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Cambodian civil society to discuss advancing women’s human rights and gender equality in the post-2015 development agenda, financing for development process, and CSW.

Ivy Josiah, APWLD partner from Malaysia speaking at a panel with Mina Mushtaq of Pakistan and Lillian Soto of Paraguay. All 3 shared innovative initiatives to challenge gender discrimination. The three were awarded as winners in a global contest  organised by Gender at Work, BRIDGE and FLASCO in an End Discrimination Now contest.

On Thursday, 12 March, the Australian Government delegation to CSW  hosted a dialogue with civil society from the Asia Pacific region. APWLD partner members from Nepal, Bougainville,  Kyrgyzstan,  Malaysia,  Phillipines, Cambodia and Bangladesh spoke up to share concerns regarding Australian international policy and highlighted the reality of women’s lives. Issues ranged from mining to climate change to refugee exchange policy.
